About Elections BC
The Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms gives Canadian citizens the right to vote.
Elections BC is the custodian of that right on behalf of B.C. voters.
Elections BC is the organization that administers the Election Act and the provincial electoral process in B.C. Elections BC is separate from other provincial and federal election organizations and is only responsible for administering elections at the provincial level. Elections BC does not administer federal or municipal elections.
B.C. was the first province in Canada to establish fixed election dates. Provincial general elections are set to occur on the second Tuesday in May every four years. The next provincial election is on May 14, 2013.
